Randy Gene
Moss (born February 13 1977) is a former American footballer. He was a player
with the Minnesota Vikings (Oak Raiders), New England Patriots (New England
Patriots), Tennessee Titans (Tennessee Titans) and the San Francisco 49ers in
the National Football League. Widely regarded as the greatest wide receiver of
all time, along with Jerry Rice, he holds the NFL single-season touchdown
reception record (23 in 2007) in addition to the NFL single-season touchdown
reception record for rookies (17 in 1998) and is second on the NFL all-time
regular season touchdown reception list, with 156. Moss was well-known for his
prowess in securing contestable catches, and the term "mossed" has
become part of the the football lexicon. After football, he started working
with ESPN as a studio analyst for its Sunday NFL Countdown and Monday Night
Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He attended DuPont
High School. It was one of two schools that was later amalgamated into
Riverside High School. There Moss excelled in football, basketball, track, and
other sports. Randy was also a member of the school's debating club. Moss was a
DuPont Panthers' football player who led them to back-toback state
championshipsin 1992 and 1993. He was a star at wide receiver as well as
playing free safety returning kickoffs and punts, as well as was the team's
kicker and punter. He received the Kennedy Award for West Virginia Football
Player of the Year in 1994. Parade magazine named him to their All-American
high-school football team in 1995, and in 2009 his name was named among the top
50 footballers from high school ever.
